Wanda Williams was a founding member in 1999 of the Sickle Cell Community Advisory Council for Northern California. As a person living with sickle cell it has been her mission to dedicate the past 30 years of her life advocating for persons living with sickle cell. She taught in an alternative high school for 8 years prior to moving into administration. Ms. Williams, worked for the Hayward Unified School District 35 years prior to retiring as a Coordinator of Child Welfare & Attendance. After her retirement from the school district, she worked for 3 years as a Social Work Assistant at Children’s Hospital Oakland in the Sickle Cell Department. She is a wife, mother of 5 adults, grandmother of 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. God willing Wanda will celebrate her 71st birthday on October 23, 2020.
