November 29, 2019 | FDA grants accelerated approval to Oxbryta (Voxelotor) by Global Blood Therapeutics for sickle cell disease patients aged 12 and above. It reduces sickling of red blood cells, improving hemoglobin levels.
November 15, 2019 | FDA approved Novartis’ Adakveo to reduce vaso-occlusive crises (VOCs) in sickle cell disease patients. Adakveo binds to P-selectin, lowering VOCs frequency by 45%. Novartis anticipates its availability soon.
July 8, 2017 | Endari is indicated to reduce the acute complications of sickle cell disease in adult and pediatric patients 5 years of age and older. It has received Orphan Drug designation in the U.S. and Orphan Medicinal Product designation in the EU.
