Nancy M. René
Nancy René is an experienced advocate for people with sickle cell disease. Her work in advocacy began shortly after the birth of her grandson, Joseph, in 2003.
During the last twenty years, Nancy has traveled across the country to take part in conferences and support critical legislation. She meets regularly with people from the LA County Department of Health and has been a Board Member of SCDAA as well as the President of the Board of the Sickle Cell Disease Foundation of California.
As Nancy became well-known as an advocate for Sickle Cell, she made presentations at meetings of CIRM, the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine, and at ISSCR, the International Society for Stem Cell Research.
Nancy’s career began as a secondary school math teacher. She became a school administrator in Los Angeles and ended her career as Principal at Dorsey High. She says, “I look forward to working with all the talented people at Cayenne Wellness. There are many challenges in sickle cell care, but with those challenges come opportunities for improving the lives of everyone in the sickle cell community.”
