VISTA Public Health Assistant – FQHC & STAC
Nevaeh Gutierrez is a fourth-generation Angeleno with a deep commitment to improving the quality of lives in her community. She earned her B.A. in Sociology from Whittier College with a 4.0 GPA and was honored with the Charles J. Browning Prize in Sociology. Her degree strengthened her curiosity about social institutions, structures, and human connection, while her lived experiences have fueled her dedication to advancing equity and access.
Her passion for this work began at a young age—first through volunteering at her local hospital, and later by founding the first mental health club at her high school to raise awareness and reduce stigma. These early experiences deepened her empathy and reinforced her belief in the importance of community-driven solutions. Since then, she has gained experience in research, evaluation, and outreach, always guided by the goal of closing gaps and addressing disparities. Nevaeh is especially dedicated to raising awareness and expanding education around sickle cell trait and disease, working to ensure that individuals and families have the knowledge and resources they need to thrive.
