In 1989, Shirley founded Word-for-Word Reporting & Transcribing, a freelance court reporter firm, which she sold in 2001. In 2001, she co-founded and was the executive director of alternative medicine practice and Christian health ministry. In December 2004, she launched Temple Care International Ministries and speaks at churches, ministries, and businesses around the country about the power of diet and lifestyle for healing and wellness. In 2003, she then continued to get a formal education in the field of natural healing at the International Institute of Original Medicine. She is now a Doctor of Naturopathy, Certified Health Practitioner, and Certified Nutrition Counselor, now retired. She is also the author of “Making Friends With Food – Honoring the Body Temple Nutritionally; writer and editor of the past monthly e-newsletter, “Healthy Living”; has been host and guest on various health and wellness radio programs; conducted healthy food preparation demonstrations; taught Overcoming Abuse and Setting Boundaries for the Christian Women’s Job Corp; and had been a member and volunteer of various service and outreach organizations. In addition, she has held several leadership roles in the several organizations of her faith tradition.
