Maria Rivera is a sickle cell disease advocate. She has been advocating for the past six years. However, she has always been advocating in her daughter’s behalf since birth. Maria currently works with the Sickle Cell Community Consortium as part of their staff. Maria has participated in various projects with NIH or NHBLI like PRRWG, and their mental health project, with ASH stroke panel, and she is currently participating in the CIP project with Heather Avant. Maria also participated with Sick Cells in a project to help the Hispanic community. Maria enjoys volunteering to help the Sickle Cell Community.
